SACRED HEART AWARD - SECOND QUARTER
Each quarter, the students in 8th grade select one of their peers to receive the Sacred Heart Award, in recognition of service to others and dedication to a life of virtue. That student's parents are invited to the Mass when this award is presented. The 8th graders write their nominations and the examples that they tell about the student recognized are used in the presentation speech delivered by that student's homeroom teacher. Pictured above is the second quarter recipient.

...and on piano.
Some led us in prayer...
and others led us in hand motions to the songs we sang.
At the end of Mass, Matt received the Sacred Heart Award. This award is given each quarter to the 8th grader who Lives the Virtues. The 8th graders vote for a student to receive this award and give the reasons why he should receive it.
Other 8th graders received the Christian Service Award for 40 hours of service to others.
Others received the Christian Service Award with Distinction for 50 or more hours of service to others.
And then, it was time to pass the leadership to seventh grade. The members of the Class of 2014 gave a bookmark of the school colors to the seventh graders for their Bibles to signify the passing the leadership of the school on to the Class of 2015.
After Mass, the whole school met in the gym to view our goody-bye surprise movie that 7th grade had filmed and edited. Everyone in grades K through 7 played a part in the LipDub which was to the tune of Happy and featured the virtues which we know our 8th graders will carry with them wherever they go.
We visited with our second grade partners and shared our "fractured fairy tales" with them.

Our 8th graders are great leaders for the school. One of the many things they do is to run the school supply store. If you forgot to get a notebook, pencil, eraser, or protractor or if you left them at home; check with them to see if they can help you out.
